Born Natalie Hershlag on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, Israel, Natalie Portman is the only child of Avner Hershlag, an Israeli-born fertility specialist, and Shelley Stevens, an American homemaker from Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of three, her family relocated to the United States, eventually settling in Long Island, New York. Portman attended Syosset High School, graduating in 1999. Demonstrating a strong academic inclination, she pursued higher education at Harvard University, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2003. During her time at Harvard, she also contributed to scientific research, co-authoring a study on enzymatic production of hydrogen. 

🎭 Acting Career and Acclaim

Portman's acting career commenced at the age of 12 with her role as Mathilda in Luc Besson's "Léon: The Professional" (1994). She gained international recognition portraying Padmé Amidala in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy (1999–2005). Her versatility as an actress is evident in diverse roles, such as Evey Hammond in "V for Vendetta" (2005), Anne Boleyn in "The Other Boleyn Girl" (2008), and Nina Sayers in "Black Swan" (2010), the latter earning her an Academy Award for Best Actress. 

In 2016, Portman portrayed Jacqueline Kennedy in "Jackie," receiving critical acclaim and multiple award nominations. She also took on the role of Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in "Thor" (2011), "Thor: The Dark World" (2013), and "Thor: Love and Thunder" (2022).

Portman's recent work includes the Apple TV+ film "Fountain of Youth" (2025), directed by Guy Ritchie, where she stars alongside John Krasinski as estranged siblings on a global quest. She also appeared in the psychological drama "May December" (2023), exploring complex themes of identity and performance.

A longstanding ambassador for Dior since 2010, Portman is renowned for her elegant fashion choices. At the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, she captivated audiences in a Dior gown inspired by the 1951 "Mexico" model, featuring intricate embroidery that required over 700 hours of craftsmanship.

Portman married French choreographer Benjamin Millepied in 2012, with whom she has two children. The couple divorced in 2024.
